Volubilis “Roman Ruins” and Meknes
After your breakfast we pick you up from your accommodation then we drive towards Volubilis which is one of Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins. It is located between the Imperial cities of Meknes and Fes, and visible from the nearby holy town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoune. Established in 2st century BC, at a time when the area was part of Mauretania Tengitana, Volubilis was the capital of the kingdom of Mauretania at a certain era. After that we head to Meknes which was the capital of Morocco in the 17th century under the reign of Moulay Ismail. The name of Meknes is derived from Miknassa, an Amazigh tribe that inhabited in the area. This beautiful and historical city has many monuments and places to visit; such as Bab Mansour, Hedim Square, Sahrij Souani and Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. In the late afternoon we drive back to Fes.
